前項では英語学習の土台となるbe動詞と一般動詞のルールについて説明しました。ここでは現在形と過去形の否定文・疑問文を取り上げます。be動詞と一般動詞ではつくり方が異なるので、それぞれどのようなルールがあるのか簡単に説明していきます。
英語の否定文（現在形・過去形）
まずはbe動詞の否定文から見ていきましょう。
be動詞の否定文
be動詞の否定文のつくり方はとってもシンプル！現在形も過去形も be動詞の後に [ not ] をつけるだけでOK！
be動詞 + [ not ] で、「～ではない」という否定の意味を表します。でも普段は短縮した形をつかうことが多いので、短縮形も一緒に覚えましょう。（短縮せずにつかうのは、「～ではない」ことを強調したい時です。）

一般動詞の否定文
一般動詞の否定文もかんたんです。一般動詞の否定形は、動詞の原形の前に否定語を置きます。現在形なら”do not”を置きます。主語が三人称単数の場合は、”does not”。過去形の場合は、主語の種類に関係なく全て“did not”を置きます。

気が付きましたか？否定文をつくるときには、動詞の語尾に [ s ] や [ ed ] が付きません。すべて元の形（原形）のまま使います。

まずはbe動詞の疑問文から見ていきましょう。

一般動詞の疑問文もかんたんです。

過去形なら、主語に関係なくすべて Did ＋ 主語 ＋ 動詞の原形 ？

たくさんあるように見えますが、be動詞、一般動詞の否定文・疑問文どちらもパターンが決まっているので、例文を何度も繰り返して、感覚的に覚えてしまいましょう。
